  Byword of the ThinkPad has long had a black stick in the minds of those who know the business products from Lenovo (formerly IBM still wear brand) it. "May be another color, as long as the color was black," was another slogan.

But since this year Lenovo byword seems to want to break it. ThinkPad can be a colorful, red for example, although the shape still looks a little conservative. That is the reason behind the birth of ThinkPad Edge.

Edge is a business class laptop product that was launched in early 2010 in Indonesia. Lenovo designed with several variants of screen size, starting from 11 inches, 13 inches, 14 inches to 15 inches.

We tested the 13-inch version for several weeks. The form is slender and dark colors bring light bulb has a different feel from the classic ThinkPad.

13-inch Edge uses an Intel Core 2 Duo U7300 with 1.30 GHz speed. This is a variant of the processor ultra-low voltage (ULV) from Intel that allows for longer battery power.

Edge, which is designed for small and medium enterprises (SMEs), has a capacity of 2 gigabytes of RAM. As for its hard disk capacity of 250 gigabytes.

Irene Santosa, Country Manager for Home and Small Business Lenovo Indonesia, said SMEs are the fastest-growing segment in the world. This year, IDC predicts the laptop market this type will reach 45 million units.

To change this Lenovo created Edge and "kill" the old byword. Edge, says Irene, made for a company with employees from 10 to 99 people who appreciate the aesthetics, in addition to simple and clean design and price.

Although the price is somewhat high, Edge was already adopting features enterprise-class ThinkPad. An example is the ThinkVantage technologies. This technology includes features Rescue and Recovery and Password Manager. Edge also offers an optional WiMAX connectivity.
