More privacy suits against Apple may be coming

Earlier this week Apple was sued, along with several app developers, for allegedly sending personal information to ad networks without the users' knowledge or consent. According to one industry lawyer, there could be more lawsuits on the way.

Speaking with InformationWeek on Wednesday, attorney Kevin Pomfret said the trend of consumers turning to the courts to protect their privacy is likely to continue. "I would not be surprise if there were more lawsuits," said Pomfret.

A lawyer who advises businesses on privacy issues, Pomfret said the law is "unclear" in this area.

Apple is no stranger to lawsuits over the iPhone. The company has been sued by big companies like Nokia, Motorola, and HTC. Apple has also been sued by individuals for not revealing that the battery was not user-replaceable and, in 2009, for MMS not being available on the iPhone.

This is also not the first time Apple has been named in a lawsuit against an app developer. In 2009, Tune Hunter sued music-finding service Shazam of patent infringement and named Apple, as well as a host of other companies, in its lawsuit.

The latest privacy lawsuit claims ad networks are able to trace an iPhone or iPad using the unique device identifier. The suit says the practice violates federal computer fraud and privacy laws.

All Internet addresses will be used up in January 2011

Inventories are expected to be Internet addresses run out in January 2011.

Internet address has been distributed by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN). ICANN divide the rations Internet address to the five regional organizations around the world.

"Pool central addresses will be used up in January," said Ernesto Majo, Communications Director Internet Address Registry for Latin America and the Caribbean, based in Montevideo.

Silicon Valley-backed small number of big names have launched a beta version of a new search engine and the company says has the main ingredients that do not belong to Google, the touch of humanity.

The name of the company and its search engine is Blekko. Blekko said, the Web is increasingly saturated with sites such as spam, especially those designed to appear (pop up) in Google search results, but its content more substantive information than the marketing campaign.

Symantec has warned Internet users wary of spam messages that menawarkankan free ticket to watch Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part I, which will be released in Indonesia next month.

In a press release received by Antara News, Monday (26/10), Symantec said one example of the message in the campaign are: Subject: Get your HP 7 Tickets Now.
 

When the Submit button is clicked, the user will be asked to provide their email addresses and other personal data and then directed to a tempting offer, stay for four days / three nights in a luxury resort.

  A founder of Facebook, Chris Hughes launched a social networking site that combines the functions Jumo Facebook and Twitter.
